LCMHC, MEd.
Greetings, I’m Katie. I’m a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mental health is my passion, and it is a gift to support people through paths of self-discovery, healing, and reconnection with themselves.
I take an eclectic, client-centered approach and believe healing happens when people feel safe, seen, and supported in their whole experience—mind and body. My skill set includes traditional psychotherapy, Somatic Experiencing® (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness practices, and art therapy.
Somatic Experiencing® informs my work with trauma, stress, anxiety, and overwhelm by helping clients build nervous system awareness, increase capacity, and gently release patterns of survival held in the body. Sessions may include tracking bodily sensations, grounding practices, movement, imagery, and pacing that supports regulation and resilience—always at a client’s own pace.
Kindness, curiosity, and collaboration characterize my approach. I meet clients where they are through talk therapy, humor, creativity, and drawing (Zentangle®), while supporting deeper body-based awareness and integration.
I currently work with teens (11+), adults, couples, and families. With a background in education, I pay close attention to systems and relationships in my work. I practice through an anti-oppression lens and believe that examining the systems we live within is essential to culturally responsive care. I am affirming of all LGBTQIA+ clients and families of all makes and models.
In addition to helping others, I love to visit Wrightsville Beach with my three children and spouse. Biking and running are activities that help me feel connected to myself and others. I use poetry and quotes to provide comfort and joy throughout my own life journey.
